The Internet Archive, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Like a paper library, we provide free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public.

While I generally am cheering their live music and text archives, I must admit that I find the WayBack Machine a little disturbing. Sometimes when people remove things from the internet, they want to know it’s gone, not find it archived on an obscure server somewhere, right? But, I see the flip side of it for people who need information only to find broken links. I think in general, all information is worth having and saving, so I approve, if warily.
