Imaginary Librarians as Investment Consultants—What?

I have one urgent task to perform today: I have to go to the library! I have some overdue materials that are starting to turn into a tight ball in my stomach as I think of the quiet disapproving looks of my local librarians. It’s the problem with being a regular anywhere—if you mess up and make a mistake, there is no anonymity. There’s a friend who just barely refrains from shaking her head and sucking her teeth, telling you “You know, you could have renewed that.”

No More Monkey Business

I don’t often get a chance to watch much television, and what time I do spend (waste?) is very often spent on BBC America. I did happen to catch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night, however, to my delight.

What are you doing home?

My kid got sent home sick for coughing. Ok kid, what are you doing home? You’re healthier than I am but I have a lot more shit to do today than you do. I can already anticipate the phone call from my boss where my son barrels into the office and loudly proclaims that poop is stuck in his bottom, or something equally as savory. The kicker? He hasn’t coughed more than twice since he’s been home. He HAS, however, managed to:

It’s Lent and I gave up sugar, so I’m blogging

Coming into the season of Lent, after a year I alternately wish I could do-over or wipe from my memory, I am looking to affect positive change in my life. I am bipolar and I have spent the last ten years of my life workshopping my shit and doing all the things I am supposed to do to take care of myself. I don’t take medication because I have historically suffered adverse reactions to it. Last year, after seeing advertisements for newly approved medications for the disorder, I decided to give medication another try. What I didn’t know is just how bad a bad reaction to medication can be.
